What's going on in the Turkish rebar market?

Since it is the holiday week in Turkey, the markets remain stagnant.

What's going on in the Turkish rebar market?

The iron and steel industry in Turkey was stuck due to the problems it experienced in loans. The producers, who could not get loans from banks, started to cut down on production with the decrease in demand. Traders sell at a loss.

In a statement made by Tosyalı; “I would like to ask you to contact the sales unit for money order purchases for early payments. As Tosyalı Iron and Steel Co. Inc., the exchange rate we purchase is 19,9000 TL. Until 15.00, unless otherwise informed, purchases will be made at this rate. In case of a serious fluctuation during the day, new exchange rate information will be shared." However, other producers continue to sell at the free market rate.

Icdas A.S. Biga continues to sell rebar at $700 but it lowers the price to $690 when finds a buyer. While Çolakoğlu and Kroman in Istanbul announced a price of $ 690, it is heard that they have reduced their prices up to $ 680 according to the demand in the market.

Habaş Iron and Steel Factory, located in Izmir, continued its price of $685 for rebar, and reported the base rate as 19.55.

While the spot market prices were at the level of 15,600 TL in İzmir Karabük and Payas, the average figures in Istanbul were at the level of 15,500 TL and even decreased to 15,400 TL.
