In 2022, the crude steel production of the Middle East steel industry increased by 7.1% compared to 2021 and reached 44 million tons.
Among the countries that showed a decrease in crude steel production compared to last year, Africa decreased by 6.6% to 14.9 million tons, Turkey decreased by 12.9% to 35.1 million tons and Egypt decreased by 4.6% to 9.8 million tons.
In contrast to the countries that showed a decrease in crude steel production compared to last year, Iran increased by 8% to 30.6 million tons, Saudi Arabia increased by 3.9% to 9.1 million tons and India increased by 5.5% to 124.7 million tons. Algerian crude steel production remained stable at 3.5 tons.
