According to a notice published by Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the investigation was initiated on September 9, 2026, through Gazette Notification No. P.U.(B) 331/2026. Conducted under case number AD 03/26, the investigation covers cold-rolled stainless steel products in coils, sheets, or other forms.
The application for the investigation was filed by Bahru Stainless Sdn Bhd, representing domestic producers in Malaysia. The company alleged that imports of the products concerned from Indonesia had increased in absolute terms and had caused injury to the domestic industry.
In addition to the increase in import volumes, the application alleged a decline in the market share of domestic producers, price undercutting and price depression, lower sales and turnover, declines in production and capacity utilization rates, reductions in employment and wages, and an increase in inventories.
The products covered by the investigation are classified under tariff codes 7219.31.00 00, 7219.32.00 00, 7219.33.00 00, 7219.34.00 00, 7219.35.00 00, 7219.90.00 00, 7220.20.10 00, and 7220.20.90 00. MITI stated that these tariff codes are provided for information purposes only and are not legally binding in determining the scope of the products subject to the investigation.
Interested parties wishing to participate in the investigation must request the investigation questionnaire by September 24, 2026, and submit the completed questionnaire to MITI by October 9, 2026.
