US hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) prices remained flat this week due to lower cold-rolled coil (CRC) prices. The ex-works US HDG price was $980/short ton (st), while the CRC price fell by $40/st to $1,020/st. The spot HDG market was quiet as demand slowed, with one service center offering $1,020/st for 20-40st of material. Repeatable CRC offers ranged from 980-1,020/st for 500st of material from multiple mills. Average US HDG mill lead time widened to 6-8 weeks, while CRC lead times rose to 8-9 weeks.
US hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices were flat due to limited transactions and offers. Domestic US HRC Midwest and southern were flat at $820/short ton (st), down by 32pc since the peak of $1,200/st in April. In the Midwest, repeatable offers and assessed numbers were between $800-840/st, while in the south, repeatable offers were between $780-840/st for 100-1,000st. The lead time average for US HRC Midwest was down to five weeks from 5-6 weeks.
US HRC import prices fell by $20/st to $700/st on a ddp Houston basis, with interest in imports remaining low with lead times into the fourth quarter.
