According to the data, Türkiye imported a total of 1,133,652 tons of DRI between January and June 2026. Imports stood at 550,053 tons during the same period last year.
Looking at the monthly data, Türkiye started 2026 with 312,729 tons of DRI imports, followed by 137,506 tons in February, 117,009 tons in March, and 116,793 tons in April. Imports increased again in May, reaching 306,958 tons, while June imports stood at 142,657 tons.
June imports of 142,657 tons represented an increase of 108.81% compared with the 68,318 tons recorded in June 2025.
DRI Imports from Russia Surged More Than 18-Fold in the First Half
The Russian Federation ranked first in Türkiye’s DRI imports. Imports from Russia reached 765,414 tons in the January-June 2026 period, compared with 40,998 tons in the same period last year. Accordingly, DRI imports from Russia increased by 1,766.97% year-on-year.
Russia also stood out in June. Türkiye’s DRI imports from Russia amounted to 141,651 tons in June 2026. Imports, which stood at 10,013 tons in June 2025, increased by 1,314.62% year-on-year.
Türkiye imported 19,370 tons of DRI from the UAE in the first half of 2026. Imports from the UAE amounted to 1,007 tons in June.
