Tata Steel and Gestamp collaborate for recycled steel production

Tata Steel and Gestamp have signed a new agreement on recycled steel. According to the agreement, the percentage of recycled steel will almost double.

Tata Steel and Gestamp collaborate for recycled steel production

According to the project, which is the subject of the agreement between the two companies, high quality scrap will be used as secondary raw material in low emission steel production, contributing to the achievement of sustainability targets.

Gestamp will supply additional content to Tata Steel, whose automotive steel already contains recycled components.

The benefit of this project for Gestamp is that it will enable Gestamp to pass on the benefits of increased recycled content, such as reduced carbon footprint, to vehicle manufacturers, as OEMs require low-emission steel to meet decarbonisation targets with guaranteed quality and safety.

The agreement aims to almost double the percentage of recycled steel in components supplied to the automotive industry to increase the sustainability of steel.
