Pakistan extends anti-dumping duties on Chinese cold-rolled steel

Pakistan has extended the anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled (CR) steel products imported from China.

Pakistan extends anti-dumping duties on Chinese cold-rolled steel

Authorities emphasized that the decision was made after exporters attempted to bypass existing duties by altering product specifications.

The anti-dumping duties were first applied in 2016 at rates ranging from 13.17 % to 19.04 % and were extended following a review in 2021. However, complaints from local producers and a subsequent investigation found that some exporters were shipping larger CR coils and sheets to avoid the duties.

The duty has now been expanded to cover CR coils and sheets wider than 1,250 mm. These products are used across various sectors, including automotive manufacturing and home appliances.

Certain products, such as Tin Mill Black Plate and specific automotive-grade materials, remain exempt. Imports for export-oriented production or projects with foreign investment that are exempt from customs duties are also excluded from the anti-dumping measures.
