Metinvest stops Azovstal operations

Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, Ukraine under Metinvest was attacked in late last week. The steelmaking production equipment had no damage but the coal warehouse was hit and another attack was near the coke oven.

Under this situation, Metinvest stopped the operation of the coke oven, blast furnace, and converter. At the same time, Metinvest also stopped some operation activities of Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works and its coking plant Zaporizhcoke, which Metinvest holds part of their shareholdings.

Metinvest's Dniprovsky Integrated Iron & Steel Works (DMK) and mining and beneficiation plants at Kryvyi Rih are keeping operation but the latter will reduce the output.
