Liberty Steel & Wire Peoria, one of the largest wire and rod mills in the USA, resumed all production of melting, drawing, rolling, and galvanizing on March 14, making its monthly production capacity reach 500,000 tons of steel.
Liberty declared force majeure at its Peoria plant last December as two primary transformers were out of order and its melt shop failed to restart after a maintenance interruption.
After installing a new transformer for its electric arc furnace, Liberty resumed steelmaking operations in the Peoria plant on February 1.
