State-owned mining giant NMDC produced 8.87 million tons (MT) of iron ore in the January-February 2022 period, up about 13 percent year on year.
According to company data, NMDC produced 7.72 MT of iron ore in the first two months of 2021.
During the period under review, the country's largest iron ore miner saw its sales rise 17 percent to 8.21 mt, up from 6.99 mt in January-February 2021.
Hyderabad-based NMDC, affiliated with the Ministry of Steel, is the country's largest iron ore mining company with mines in states including Karnataka and Chhattisgarh.
Iron ore is an important steel producing raw material.
NMDC is also involved in the exploration of a wide variety of minerals such as copper, rock phosphate, limestone, dolomite and gypsum.
The company has recently e-auctioned 8,337 carats of rough diamonds produced at the Panna diamond mines in Madhya Pradesh.
