Cumbre Vieja Volcano on La Palma Island, declared a disaster area in southwest Spain, continues to spew lava and ash.
In the volcano, where the explosions increased its intensity, 2 more were added to the mouths where the lava came out. The lava flowing through the new fissures has followed a different path than before, causing concern as it could wreak more havoc on the island.
CURRENT RESTRICTION IS IMPLEMENTED DUE TO AIR POLLUTION
While the explosion sprayed gas and ash up to 6 thousand meters into the air, curfews were imposed on approximately 3,500 people in different settlements of Los Llanos de Aridane and El Paso due to the air pollution.
Due to the danger posed by the volcano, curfews were imposed on San Borondon, Marina Alta, Marina Baja and La Condesa regions before. While more than 6,000 people had to leave their homes due to the eruption of the volcano on September 19, no injuries or deaths have been reported so far.
