Iran’s Revolutionary Guards: We will maintain control of the strait of Hormuz until the US accepts all our conditions

Speaking to Iranian state television, IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi commented on developments in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s strategy in the region.

Mohebbi stated that the Strait of Hormuz is not merely a strategic waterway for Iran, but has also become a key area of the ongoing conflict. He added that Tehran’s position on the strait is linked to the process being conducted with the United States.

“Our strategy is to maintain control of the strait until the enemy accepts all our conditions,” Mohebbi said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also stated a day earlier that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would depend on certain conditions being met.

Araghchi said, “The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz depends on other conditions, including compensation for the violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by the United States.”

The statements by Iranian officials indicate that control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical transit routes for global oil and energy shipments, will remain an important bargaining tool for Tehran in its negotiations with Washington.
