Tata Steel UK and Swansea University are to collaborate in order to develop solar roofing panels that can printed onto the steel used in buildings.
The two partners aim to explore the technology that could potentially allow buildings to generate and store their own electricity under a three-year research.
Swansea professor Dave Worsley, Head of Materials Science and Engineering stated that this technology will be of great benefit to tackling the energy and climate crisis.
