US based Perma-Pipe International Holdings and India based Welspun Corp signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the developers of Jordan’s National Water Carrier Project and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to establish an integrated pipe manufacturing and coating platform in Jordan.
The planned joint venture is expected to support the development and operation of pipe manufacturing and advanced coating facilities in Jordan. The facilities are planned to serve markets in Jordan and the surrounding region, particularly water, oil and gas, energy and infrastructure projects.
Pipe manufacturing and coating technologies to be combined
Under the partnership, Welspun’s large diameter steel pipe manufacturing capabilities are expected to be combined with Perma-Pipe’s corrosion protection coating systems, insulation solutions, engineering capabilities and project execution experience.
The coating systems developed by Perma-Pipe are expected to help protect pipelines against corrosion and extend their service life.
The parties are currently working on the technical, commercial, financial and regulatory requirements of the project. Facility design, production capacity, coating technologies, market requirements and necessary permits are also being evaluated as part of the process.
Details including Perma-Pipe’s investment in the joint venture, the partnership structure, production capacity and project timeline are expected to be announced following the completion of the final agreements.
