The market sentiment for September, when buyers and sellers traditionally return to trade, has been bearish due to the uncertain demand outlook for end consumers, the need for local producers to fill their order books and a significant amount of imports awaiting customs clearance or on their way to the EU.
Local hot rolled coil prices in Northwest Europe were unchanged at EUR 635/mt ex-works Ruhr on August 15.
Market participants estimated commercial values at €630-640/mt ex-Ruhr and reported offers equivalent to €635-640/mt ex-Ruhr.
In Northwest Europe, import offers from Asia were placed at €620-630/mt CIF Antwerp. Buyers are not interested in the material due to both uncompetitive prices and lead times.
