Billet exports to Turkey are increasing

Producers in the Gulf Cooperation Council plan to increase the supply of billets and reduce rebar production during Ramadan by receiving a large number of billet requests, especially in Turkey.

Billet exports to Turkey are increasing

Firms that received a large number of billet requests from Turkey were announced as Jindal Shadeed (Oman), Emirates Steel (United Arab Emirates), Qatar Steel (Qatar) and Hadeed (Saudi Arabia).

On the other hand, traders cannot evaluate the Turkish market, despite the fact that Turkey's rebar and billet prices have decreased, import customs duty is still continuing. Oman stated that the April billet shipment is targeted at $625-635 fob/ton ($ 675-680 cfr/ton Turkey) and the price of the billet shipment originating from Iran is $625-635 cfr/ton.  Also, sellers have offered 3 sp 150mm billet shipments in April at $640-650/t cfr to test the Turkish market, but the offers did not work.

According to an industry analyst, the applicable billet price for the Turkish market is $625-630/t cfr. Also, the analyst states that billet purchases in Turkey will increase when billet prices in Russia decrease from $620/ton fob to $580-590/ton fob.
