Billet consumption increased in Iran

A significant amount of the increase in Iran's production of steel products was used in the domestic market.

Billet consumption increased in Iran

According to the data provided by the Iranian Steel Producers Association, the country's production and consumption of steel products in the domestic market are as follows:

Iran's long products production, which started in April, amounted to more than 990,000 tons by the end of May, of which around 823,000 tons were used for domestic consumption. Compared to the first two months of last year, the production volume increased by 2%.

The production of flat steel products decreased by 1% compared to last year, reaching 851 thousand tons, of which 848 thousand tons were used for domestic consumption.

According to the statistics, the biggest increase in the consumption of steel products was determined as billet. The country produced 3 million tons of billets, of which 2,432,000 tons were used for domestic consumption in April and May, 22% of the amount consumed in April and May last year.

Sponge iron consumption increased by 4% from 3 million 241 thousand tons to 3 million 357 thousand tons.
