In Northern Europe, stainless cold rolled coil averaged around €2,350-2,400/ton ($2,514-2,568) for October delivery, while hot rolled coil averaged €2,250/t ex-base. European producers are offering €2,450-2,550/t lower for CRC and €150/t lower for HRC for November delivery.
European producers are focusing on lobbying for a tightening of protectionism and investigating possible violations of anti-dumping measures on stainless coils, several sources said.
In August, the European Commission opened an investigation into possible violations of anti-dumping measures applied to imports of stainless steel cold rolled (SSCR) flat products from Indonesia. This was to be done through imports of the same products from Taiwan, Turkiye and Vietnam.
A new regulation requires imports of SSCR flat products from Taiwan, Turkiye and Vietnam to be subject to registration for the next nine months, whether or not they are declared as originating from these countries.
