According to sources, spot prices for factory delivery increased by more than $170/st during the month of December. Setting no minimum price, US Steel increased its prices by $50/short ton (st) for Big River Steel, its flat steel plant in Arkansas.
In addition to US Steel, Nucor and Cleveland-Cliffs' HRC prices were at a minimum of $900/st.
The Middle East HRC prices of trading increased by $18.75/st to $800/st, while prices for the southern region increased by $25/st to $800/st.
Since the end of November, there have been five price hikes by U.S. steelmakers, totaling $260/s.
