US steel sheet prices remained stable last week as spot trading slowed down. HRC prices hovered around $840-860/ton while CRC prices were around $1,200-1,220/ton.
US sheet prices fell again this week as local producers provided regular spot price updates. Hot roll prices decreased from $840-860/ton to $800-850/ton in most deals. Cold roll prices, on the other hand, fell from $1,200-1,220/ton to $1,150-1,225/ton.
Buyers are showing a reluctant attitude towards spot trading, preferring to watch the market following Nucor's weekly Consumer Spot Price presentation. US Nucor Steel cut its product prices yesterday. Steel plate prices were cut by -$90 to $1,200/st, while flat steel (HRC) was cut by -$10 to $825/st. On the other hand, Cleveland Cliffs officially opened its HRC order book and set its base price at around $850.
