High production costs in Turkiye have had a negative impact on competitiveness. Turkish steel producers are struggling to make sales both in the global and local markets and are unable to utilise their production capacities effectively.
Raw material purchases slowed down in the weak Turkish steel market. However, prices in the scrap market remain steep. Following last week's purchases at $368-369/tonne cfr Turkiye, the last connections made this week were in the range of $370-371/tonne cfr Turkiye.
