Turkey to increase steel production capacities

According to the information SteelRadar correspondent obtained from industry stakeholders, it will be a busy year for the Turkish steel market.

Due to the oversupply and weak market demand experienced in the country last year, the factories stopped working at full capacity and closed the year 2022 by producing 11,700/mt rebar with a capacity utilization rate of 58%.

Capacity utilization rates are expected to reach 75% for approximately 4,000/mt of rebar since the need for rebar will arise in those 10 provinces that were shaken by the Kahramanmaraş centered earthquakes.

A serious need for galvanization arose not only for rebar but also for containers. There is also an intense need for steel mesh to be used in ground surveys. When all these are evaluated, the production wheels of the factories are expected to turn quickly.
