According to the list of the world's largest crude steel producers announced by The World Steel Association (The World Steel Association /worldsteel), the crude steel production of 2020 and 2021 was compared by SteelRadar. While the data for the year 2022 is expected to be published by the union, the final evaluations have been made.
While Erdemir ranked 49th with a production of 8.53 mt in 2020, it ranked 48th with a production of 9.02 mt in 2021.
Tosyalı ranked 85th with a production of 4.32 mt in 2020. In 2021, it increased its production and rose to 83rd place with a production of 4.68 mt.
Habaş, on the other hand, increased from 88th place to 85th place with a production of 4.18 mt in 2020 and produced 4.54 mt in 2021.
İçdaş also rose from the 109th place in 2020 with a production of 3.22 mt, to the 104th place in 2021 with 3.53 mt.
63 companies from China were included in the list
China, which ranks first in world crude steel production, entered the list with 63 companies. China Baowu Group ranked first with a production of 119.95 mt in 2021. Ansteel Group was third with a production of 55.65 mt, while Shagang Group was fifth with a production of 44.23 mt.
ArcelorMittal pushes the top in world crude steel production
Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal ranked second in the list of world crude steel producers with a production of 79.26 mt in 2021. It had been in second place the previous year.
Japan-based company takes the fourth place in world crude steel production
Japan-based Nippon Steel Corporation ranked fourth with a production of 49.46 mt in 2021. The company was ranked fifth the previous year.
India entered the list with 5 companies
India, which occupies an important place in the world in crude steel production, joined the list with 5 companies. Tata Steel Group ranked 10th with a production of 30.59 mt in 2021. JSW Steel Limited 18.59 mt, Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) followed with 17.33 mt, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) 7.98 and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (VIZAG Steel) 5.59 mt.
Companies from different countries took part in the list summits
South Korea's POSCO ranked sixth with a production of 42.96 mt in 2021, while Nucor Corporation of the USA took the fifteenth place with a production of 25.65 mt.
