Voestalpine starts up new EUR 70 million production plant in the US

The new facility will focus on the production of high-quality longitudinal frame rails for heavy commercial vehicles. The plant, which is currently in the commissioning phase, is scheduled to reach full production capacity by mid-2027.

As part of the investment, approximately 15,000 square meters of new production space has been added to the Jeffersonville site, along with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment for the production of high-quality longitudinal frame rails.

The new facility will manufacture longitudinal frame rails for Class 6, Class 7 and Class 8 trucks. As one of the key structural components of semi-truck tractors, these products will enable voestalpine to fulfill long-term supply agreements with leading North American truck manufacturers while further strengthening its leading position as a supplier of high-quality specialty tubes and sections for the commercial vehicle industry. Upon completion of the investment, the annual production capacity of the Jeffersonville plant will double to 80,000 metric tons.

Herbert Eibensteiner, CEO of Voestalpine AG, stated that the new production facility in Indiana reinforces the company's position in a strategically important market. He emphasized that voestalpine remains committed to its "local-for-local" strategy, serving local markets through local production. Eibensteiner added that investments in attractive regions and advanced processing capabilities are a key part of the company's growth strategy and enhance its proximity to international customers.

Carola Richter, Member of the Management Board of Voestalpine AG and Head of the Metal Forming Division, said that the strong customer demand confirms the company's strategy of combining its global expertise in manufacturing complex specialty profiles for the commercial vehicle industry with a strong local presence. She noted that providing customers with high-quality, innovative products locally will further strengthen the foundation for growth across North and South America.

The expansion is expected to create a total of 110 new jobs. So far, 37 positions have been filled, with the remaining roles to be completed as the facility reaches full production capacity in the second half of 2027.

voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation currently employs around 510 people at its Jeffersonville facility.
