Shagang Group, one of China's leading steel producers, has placed a new order to build a second cold rolling mill at its production facility in Jiangsu Province. This strategic investment aims to increase the company's capacity to produce high value-added products.
The new cold rolling mill line will have the capacity to produce approximately 80,000 tons of electrical steel per year. The steels to be produced are specifically designed for electric motors used in the automotive industry. The line will be capable of rolling strips up to 0.1 mm thick and up to 1,350 mm wide.
The new plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026. With this investment, Shagang Group is expected to increase its contribution to next-generation mobility solutions such as electric vehicles and strengthen its competitiveness in the global market.
