Due to the slow consumption in the construction sector, contracts continue to be made for small quantities. Stocks are relatively low both at manufacturers, distributors and end users. However, this does not encourage buyers to make high volume purchases.
Like last month, there is no visibility and sales are made on a daily basis. However, despite the slow activity, distributors report that October has been quite good and there is no availability of low-priced Spanish or Italian cargoes. Producers in these countries are also increasing their prices.
Sources do not foresee any significant change in consumption in the first quarter of next year and expect the market to continue on its current trajectory.
According to sources, rebar prices in France are hovering around €600-610/t on average.
