According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye’s wire rod imports in June decreased by 28.5% compared to the same month last year, falling from 53,863 tonnes to 38,504 tonnes.
Compared to May, however, imports increased by 29.4%.
During the January-June period, total wire rod imports declined by 20.7% year on year, decreasing from 258,816 tonnes to 205,373 tonnes.
In June, China ranked first among Türkiye’s largest wire rod suppliers. Imports from China decreased by 21.2%, falling from 36,744 tonnes to 28,963 tonnes. Imports from Iran, which ranked second, increased from 245 tonnes to 3,154 tonnes, while imports from South Korea rose by 75%, from 970 tonnes to 1,697 tonnes. Imports from Switzerland declined by 41.1%, falling from 2,263 tonnes to 1,332 tonnes, while imports from Azerbaijan increased by 858.4%, reaching 988 tonnes from 103 tonnes.
