Bayraktar stated that they aim to reveal Turkey's local resource potential within the framework of the National Energy and Mining Policy and that they are carrying out studies to extract underground resources and bring them to the country's economy.
Reminding that domestic coal production exceeded 105 million tons last year, Bayraktar said that they aim to increase domestic coal production by processing this reserve more effectively. Emphasizing that they continue their production struggle in the mining sector, Bayraktar stated that they achieved mineral exports of 6.5 billion dollars in 2022 and increased the share of mining in GDP to 1.4 percent. Bayraktar stated that Turkey is dependent on imports in the mining sector and said that they aim to make Turkey a net exporter of minerals in the coming period.
Bayraktar explained that they consider miners as the main actors of the sector in line with highly efficient production principles and emphasized the importance of a safe working environment in accordance with international standards. Drawing attention to the importance of the mining sector with export figures, Bayraktar stated that they are working to further increase Turkey's mining share. Bayraktar also listed the steps regarding occupational health and safety and noted that they increased the standards in the sector with salary regulations, working time limitations, insurance obligations and strict inspections.
Bayraktar stated that they have implemented training and regulations aimed at increasing the capacity of employees in the mining sector and that they are making efforts to increase domestic employment and production. He also expressed his gratitude to the miners who served heroically in responding to earthquake disasters and said that they aimed to turn these experiences into an institutional structure in disaster coordination.
