High local prices have led to an increase in imports of stainless steel, cold rolled coils and hot rolled coils. U.S. stainless steel imports increased by 38% in January compared to the previous month.
Market participants thought that the increase of prices would not continue after the first quarter. In the second quarter of this year, the supply of light steel and ferritic stainless steel may be insufficient.
The increase in the prices of raw materials such as molybdenum and chromium can lead to an increase in the prices of stainless steel cold rolled coils.
