The presidents of Indonesia and Iran have met again after 17 years. According to the news, the two countries signed a preferential trade agreement.
Under this agreement, products such as pharmaceuticals, rubber, paper, textiles, wood, footwear, cotton, electrical machinery, motor vehicles, finished goods, chemicals and aluminum will be traded. The signed cooperation documents included bilateral cooperation in the fields of science, technology, oil and gas.
According to Indonesia's Director General for International Trade Jatmiko Brice Witaksono'yan, the first trade agreement between Indonesia and the Middle East region was signed with the UAE in July last year.
Indonesia sees Iran as a gateway to Central Asia and aims to expand its trade with neighboring countries such as Azerbaijan and Turkey.
