Local hot rolled coil prices in Northwest Europe decreased on August 11 and some producers were willing to offer discounts to secure sales in the slowing market, market sources said.
Some Italian producers did not deliver cargoes due to seasonal maintenance work and the slowing market in August, but said they would seek higher prices in September.
In Northwest Europe, local HRC prices were down €5/mt to €635/mt ex-works Ruhr on August 11.
In Southern Europe, local HRC prices were unchanged intraday at €635/mt ex Italy on August 11.
