While Turkey's rebar prices have been flat in dollar terms for the last two weeks, they have increased by $5-9 today. While current prices vary between $654-661, TL based prices increased by 100-200 TL compared to the previous day. Iron prices, which reached the level of 17,000 TL with a record increase in March 2023, broke this record once again and reached the level of 18,000 TL.
The sales prices of iron and steel factories continued as $650 * live currency rate.
While Turkish steelmakers have turned to import scrap purchases in the last week, it is heard that US suppliers managed to sell HMS 1&2 80:20 at $387-389/t cfr Turkey this week.
Although the rise in scrap prices triggers the market upwards, the depreciation of the Turkish lira worries the market.
