Global billet exports decreased by a quarter

The total volume of global billet exports by the end of 2022 will be below 30 million tons and 25% less than in 2021 (around 40 million tons).

The total volume of global billet exports by the end of 2022 will be below 30 million tons and 25% less than in 2021 (around 40 million tons).

Among the largest billet importers, only Turkey will increase its purchases compared to last year, after which it will increase by only 4%.

In 2022, Ukraine sharply reduced its billet exports. 12.8 million tons, an increase of 6% compared to the previous year.

Countries that previously supplied large quantities of billet to China will suffer significant losses. These are Vietnam, India, Indonesia. On the contrary, Iran will increase exports by 16% to 15.3 million tons.
