Chinese companies are challenging prices in the Southeast Asian market: Export offers are rising

SteelRadar research data indicates that billet export prices have risen from $520-530/ton FOB to $540-550/ton FOB in the past two weeks. Offers for rebar and wire rod also increased by $10 to $560-580/ton FOB and $550-590/ton FOB, respectively.

Buyers stand against prices

Current billet supplies to import markets in Southeast Asia increased to $550-558/ton CFR from $520-545/ton CFR at the end of last year. Indonesia's billet offers were at $535/ton FOB, while offers from Vietnam increased to $550/ton FOB. However, buyers are showing resistance and are unwilling to pay above $535-540/ton CFR.
