72 Steel and Aluminum Work Inc. announced that it will begin production of rebar in Pennsylvania. The company will invest about $218 million to build a plant to produce long and shaped steel near the Ohio River near Pittsburgh.
The plant's electric arc furnace will be supplied by Italian equipment manufacturer Tenova. Production is scheduled to start in 2025.
110 million dollars will be spent on roads and bridges
Approximately 110 million dollars of the total investment will be spent on the construction of roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
Capacity of 450,000 tons per year
The new plant will have a capacity of 450,000 tons per year, with the bulk of the production volume being rebar. The company also plans to produce square, round, angle, channel, beam and other shapes.
