Production in June decreased by 1.3 percent compared to the previous month. The expectation was for a 0.8 percent decline. In May, industrial production decreased by 0.5 percent.
The annual change in industrial production was 5.1 percent. Market expectations were for an 11 percent increase after an annual increase of 17.3 percent in May.
Main goods and intermediate goods production in Germany decreased by 2.9 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively, in June. Consumer goods production, on the other hand, increased by 3.4 percent.
The country's energy production decreased by 0.6 percent, while the production of the construction sector decreased by 2.6 percent.
