The European Commission has announced the results of its re-investigation into wire rod imports from China, which began in mid-October 2020, at the request of the regional metallurgical association Eurofer, which represents at least 60% of manufacturers of these products in the EU.
The subject of the investigation was wire rod of any diameter, in coils, made of carbon and alloy steel, excluding stainless steel. For the first time, anti-dumping duties were imposed on these Chinese-made products in the European Union in 2009.
According to the European Commission, the investigation showed that the abolition of the tax would lead to the resumption of wire rod supplies to the countries of the region. Therefore, the tariffs have been extended until October 2025.
For most Chinese companies, the rate was set at the previous 24.0%. For Valin Group only, the anti-dumping duty is 7.9% as before.
