The EU Commission has updated its directive on the imposition of economic sanctions against Russia.
In the new directive, it was stated that EU sanctions will be avoided from affecting the food and energy security of other countries.
For this reason, it was noted in the directive that some goods on the previous sanction list should be allowed to be transferred to third countries, and it was noted that fertilizer, animal feed, wood, cement, coal and related products can be sent to third countries by EU companies or by transit through EU territory.
In the directive, it was pointed out that EU companies could be offered services such as financing and insurance.
The EU adopted the fifth package of sanctions in April, which prohibits the purchase, import or delivery of coal from Russia.
The sanctions package came into effect in August, after the transition period ended.
In the previous directives of the EU Commission, it was stated that European companies could not take part in the shipment of products such as coal from Russia to countries outside the EU.
Thus, the scope of the EU's coal sanctions against Russia has been eased.
