Egypt to build $1bn flat steel production plant

The project has been approved by the General Directorate of the Suez Canal Economic Zone and will be built in co-operation with an international company, the cabinet said in a statement, without naming the company. The plant, which is said to have a production capacity of 1.8 million tonnes of flat steel per year, will serve the local market as well as global exports.
