Domestic producers are selling at relatively good prices in Eastern Europe and France, while other countries such as Germany and Spain are bidding at unsustainably low values for HDG.
The market will start to quiet down from next week in preparation for the August outages.
Transactions indicate that HDG levels are €760-780/tonne ($852-874) ex-works and CRC €10-20/t lower, depending on volumes.
For both products, a slight restocking is expected in September for year-end deliveries.
Demand for HDG is stable and the domestic market is seen as "favourable", but lower volumes are reported for CRC. Buyers prefer import CRC from Italy at €680-690/t cfr Italy, while local cargoes remain weak.
Meanwhile, sources noted that HRC prices also remained stable at €650-660/t ex-works due to weak demand.
