India’s state-owned coal producer Coal India Ltd. has applied to the authorities to establish its first overseas trading office in Singapore. The company’s new office is expected to support its trading activities in iron ore and critical and strategic minerals and contribute to efforts to acquire mineral assets overseas.
According to sources, the Singapore office will help Coal India expand its critical minerals activities, pursue overseas asset acquisitions and support its iron ore business.
Entered iron ore mining
Coal India won an iron ore block in a competitive auction held this month in India’s eastern state of Odisha. The move marks the company’s entry into iron ore mining.
