Chinese companies peaked up

China's stainless steel exports and imports have set a new record in the history of the Chinese Steel Industry.

In 2022, exports of semi-finished products and stainless steel by Chinese companies, which are very heavy in importing non-rustable steel, increased by 2.1% to 4.55 million tons. The volume of export deliveries in December reached 470.3 thousand tons, down by 1.8% compared to November and 12% compared to December 2021. In the EU, Chinese companies exported 408,000 tonnes of stainless steel in 2022, an increase of 57.3% compared to last year. 
In 2022, China received 3.29 million tons of stainless products and semi-finished products from abroad compared to the previous year. 3.08 million tons of imports were accounted for by Indonesia, Japan and South Korea. In December 2022, Chinese companies imported 237.1 thousand tons of stainless steel, which is 12.4% less than in December 2021 and 18.8% less than in November. At the same time, 189.8 thousand tons of stainless steel were imported from Indonesia.
