AM/NS India has obtained a license to utilize steel slag in road construction

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has taken an important step toward utilizing steel slag, a by-product of the steel production process, in road construction.

AM/NS India has obtained a license to utilize steel slag in road construction

The company announced that it has obtained a license for a special technology developed by the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), affiliated with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in India, to process steel slag at its flagship facility in Gujarat for use in road construction.

In its statement, the company noted that this collaboration with CRRI will make it possible to use processed steel slag aggregates instead of natural aggregates in road construction. AM/NS India officials stated that the application of this technology will both support environmental sustainability and offer the sector a new solution in terms of waste management.

The Ministry of Steel is working closely with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to promote the widespread adoption of this technology.
