Voestalpine AG, which started on a new 180-ton electric arc furnace construction at its Linz facility in October last year, has agreed with Primetals Technologies to supply the construction.
Primetals Technologies will be mainly responsible for the installation and commissioning of all equipment of the electric arc furnace, such as conveyor technology, capacitor bank, capacitor bank, automation, etc.
Estimated to have a production capacity of 1.6 million/mt of carbon-reduced steel per year, the electric arc furnace will start its operations in 2027.
