US import and export price indices increased in April

In April, US import price indices increased by 0.4 per cent on a monthly basis, while export price indices increased by 0.2 per cent.

The US Department of Labour announced the import and export price index data for April.

Accordingly, the import price index in the country increased by 0.4 percent in April compared to the previous month. Market expectations were for the import price index to increase by 0.3 per cent in this period.

The import price index, which increased for the first time since the end of last year due to high fuel costs, decreased by 0.8 percent in March.

The import price index decreased by 4.8 percent in April compared to the same period last year, showing the biggest annual decrease since May 2020.

The export price index in the country also increased by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis in April. The export price index, which was in line with market expectations, decreased by 0.6 percent in March.

The export price index decreased by 5.9 percent on an annual basis in April.
