Trump announced on Truth Social that the agreement with China will go into effect upon final approval by President Xi Jinping and himself.
Trump stated, "Our deal with China is finalized. This agreement is subject to final approval by President Xi and myself. Full magnets and all necessary rare earth elements will be pre-supplied by China,". He also added that Chinese students will continue to study at American universities, which always has positive results.
Washington and Beijing had previously agreed in principle on a framework to reduce trade tensions. A temporary trade truce was also announced last month, but the two sides later accused each other of violating the agreement.
