Thyssenkrupp has announced the construction of its new scrap processing plant in Duisburg.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Thyssenkrupp's scrap processing plant was held in Duisburg. This processing plant was part of the REDERS project financed by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with €6.4 million. The REDERS project is a steelmaking process with an increased recycling quota to reduce CO2 emissions.
Thyssenkrupp's Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Arnd Köfler said the project will enable the company to make rapid progress in reducing CO2 emissions.
The processing plant will produce high-quality recycled products used in Thyssenkrupp blast furnaces. After the plant is completed, up to 260,000 tons of processed bluemint products will be produced annually.
