According to the latest statistics released by the USA International Trade Commission (USITC), the USA exported around 1.11 million tons of scrap in December last year, dropping by 17.8% compared to the previous month and also falling by 7.3% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the exports to Turkey accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 242,100 tons, a month-on-month decrease of nearly 31% and a year-on-year hike of 59%. Other major export destinations included Mexico (around 182,900 tons), Vietnam (107,500 tons), Taiwan (around 104,000 tons), and Malaysia (around 82,800 tons).
During the period, the export value was roughly US$524 million, down by 15.9% month on month and up by 22.6% year on year.
