The latest situation of EU's 2023 Q1 rebar quotas

Rebar quotas gained momentum at the end of Q1

The first quarter of the 2023 rebar quotas opened by the EU to Turkey, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina have almost come to an end. Quota fillings, which were very heavy due to lack of demand in the first months, gained momentum at the end of the first quarter. Although its rate is still low compared to the previous year, Turkey's remaining quota continues to fill in the general evaluation.

The highest quota was given to Turkey

While 50,969/t has been used in Turkey so far, the remaining quota amount has been recorded as 37,912/t. At the beginning of February, this figure was seen as 54,943/t. In one and a half months, another 17,031/t quota has been filled. No transfers took place as there was no quota remaining from the previous year. The total quota capacity announced at the beginning of the year was announced as 88,881/t.

In the last quarter of last year, 17,087/t transfers were made to Moldova's quotas. Its total quota was announced as 43,811/t. While there was a remaining capacity of 36,845/t at the beginning of February, this figure is currently recorded as 29,087/t open quota.

In the EU steel quotas for Bosnia and Herzegovina, a quota of 59,614/t was given to rebar. At the end of the first quarter, the amount remaining in the quotas, of which 13,146/t was used, was 46.468/t.
