The EU wants to stop importing pig iron and HBI from Russia

Supplies of pig iron from Russia to EU countries should completely stop at the beginning of 2026. For the next two years, quotas have been introduced in the amount of 1.14 million tons until December 31, 2024 and 700 thousand tons for 2025. For HBI, they are respectively 1 .14 ​​million tons and 651.906 thousand tons.

The European Commission also banned the import of Russian ferroalloys. Contracts concluded before December 19, 2023 can be executed until December 20, 2024. Imports of Russian billets to EU countries should stop from April 1, 2024.
